Samsung has started rolling out its Android 17-based skin to its tablets as well. The first batch of devices to receive the One UI 9 update are the Galaxy Tab S11 and the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. Much like with phones, there are more customization options, accessibility improvements, and updates to Samsung core apps.
Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra are now getting the One UI 9 update
One UI 9 update to the Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra is now rolling out in the brand’s home country, South Korea. But it’ll expand to other regions where the tablets are sold in the next few days. The update for the Ultra model has a download size of 3.4GB and carries the firmware version X930XXU9CZJ6.
Since the rollout just started, it should take a couple of days, at least, to hit every unit in the region. You can check for it by heading to Settings > Software update > Check for updates to see if it has reached your unit. Since this is a major OS update, it’s worth connecting to a stable Wi-Fi network. Also, ensure the battery is at least 40% charged. The tablets may be unusable for a few minutes during the installation process.
Rolling out in South Korea first
One UI 9 is not as big an update as One UI 8.5, but there are some notable upgrades. Firstly, there are improvements to Samsung DeX. This should make multitasking and managing multiple windows on the Galaxy Tabs more convenient. It also brings new enhancements to Samsung Notes, including pen line styles, decorative tapes, and more. These give users more personalization options.
There’s a new location privacy indicator. This will let you know when an app is accessing your device’s location service in the background. On tablets, you can also customize the taskbar to make it feel more like a PC.
