According to a new report from Korea, Samsung is actually planning to announce 5 foldables in 2027. This decision has been boosted by the success of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, actually.
As many of you know by now, Samsung’s latest foldables have crushed all sorts of records. They’ve been a success globally as well, but in Korea, they outsold every other smartphone lineup before it (when it comes to pre-orders).
Due to the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s success, Samsung plans to launch five foldable phones in 2027
Therefore, according to this report, Samsung has decided to add another wide foldable to the lineup. Before this rumor, Samsung was expected to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 9, Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 9, and Galaxy Z TriFold 2.
Well, another Galaxy Z Fold wide foldable will be added to the lineup. The thing is, we don’t know anything about that phone at the moment. All we know is that it’s going to be a wide foldable.
Now, this could be a larger variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Though, granted, the whole point of that foldable is that it’s compact when folded. So if Samsung opts to release a larger variant of it, that could defeat the whole purpose.
The wider cover display on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is manageable, particularly due to its rather small 5.5-inch size. If that increases, it could be a problem, and as I already mentioned, defeat the purpose.
We still don’t know how will this phone differentiate from the Galaxy Z Fold 9
There’s always a possibility that Samsung will not differentiate the two phones in size. The company could try to make the other foldable either more powerful via a boosted camera setup or something, or opt to release a more affordable version of the Galaxy Z Fold 9.
These are all just wild guesses at this point, as the aforementioned report did not really deliver the specifics. Either way, you can expect to see five foldable smartphones from Samsung next year, including two wide foldables.
