Ahead of Unpacked last month, there was some talk of the Galaxy S26 being able to send files over AirDrop using Android’s Quick Share feature. Much like the Pixel 10 and a few other Android devices are able to do. But Samsung never mentioned it, and it wasn’t live right away.
However, Samsung is announcing today that there is an update rolling out starting in Korea that will bring this feature to more regions in the coming weeks. This includes Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan. It will also expand to other Samsung devices at “a later date,” according to the company.

AirDrop support is expected to make its way to many more Android devices
While a few Chinese OEMs had already added AirDrop support, using their own app on iOS and Android, Google has made it possible to work much more seamlessly. It works within the Quick Share functionality built into Android, and with AirDrop, which is already built into iOS. Meaning no other third-party app is needed. This is a big deal for interoperability and also makes it easier to switch platforms.
Google has made this available on the Pixel 10 and Pixel 9 series, with it coming to more devices in the coming months. We’ve also heard that this will be coming to more OEMs devices very soon, starting with the Galaxy S26 series this week.
This is going to make it so much easier to share photos with other people. And provide them with the full-res image, versus a lower resolution image that you might get from emailing, texting, or even sharing a Google Photos link.
Now if iPhone users could just get over the “blue bubble” drama that Apple created (and is only shown on iPhones, anyways).
