Samsung Galaxy S23 series is now getting the May 2026 security update, making them more secure than before. This comes after the brand recently released the stable One UI 8.5 update to the flagships, which added new features, stability improvements, customization tools, and so much more. The latest one, however, focuses on enhancing security.
The Galaxy S23 series is now more secure with May 2026 security updates
The rollout is now live in India for the phones. The update carries the firmware version S911BXXSAFZE1 for the Galaxy S23, S916BXXSAFZE1 for the Galaxy S23+, and S918BXXSAFZE1 for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. It’s worth noting that these versions will vary depending on the region. While the tech giant doesn’t explicitly say it, the May 2026 update will reach other regions in the next few days.Â
You can check for it manually: head to Settings > Software update > Download and install. If the update is available, tap ‘Download’. Once that’s over, hit Install to start the installation process. Like always, ensure your phone battery has enough charge and also connect to a stable Wi-Fi network.

Samsung may have also fixed bugs and performance issues
The May 2026 security update from Samsung brings fixes to 36 security vulnerabilities from the previous version of the OS. Among them, 30 are from Google as a part of the Android Security Bulletin. The remaining are Samsung-specific fixes to make the devices more secure. Of the 36 fixes, two are marked as Critical, 28 as High, and six as Moderate.
It’s reported that the update may include more than just a security patch. Samsung may have addressed bugs and performance issues that probably sneaked in with the One UI 8.5 update. So you now have more than just one reason to install this update when it becomes available in your region.
