Roku has unveiled a new Home Screen design for the year 2026. The company is calling it the “first significant update in over a decade,” where it’s introducing a more dynamic, smart experience. The new home screen design will start rolling out across all Roku TVs and streaming devices in the US and will auto-update. It’ll expand to additional countries in the coming months.
Roku’s new Home Screen design puts entertainment at the center
Roku claims the new Home Screen redesign reduces friction with more relevant recommendations and faster content discovery. The company’s CEO, Anthony Wood, says that the new design was inspired by the extensive user feedback. “We talked to the viewers, we tested extensively, and we pushed until the design and the data lined up for a meaningful update,” said Anthony Wood. The new Home Screen design puts entertainment at the center of everything.
The company reports that around 82% of streamers say they’d like to see the show they want to watch right on their home screen when they turn on their TV. The new Roku Home Screen apparently does just that. It recommends content based on user interests and helps them start watching faster. Roku’s intelligent models will select the best Home Screen for each viewer from billions of combinations.
The company is rolling out a suite of new features
Roku is also rolling out a suite of new features for the 2026 Home Screen design. Firstly, there’s Quick Access for the most-used apps, which continuously adapts to the user’s routine. A new “Top Picks for You” section, powered by intelligence-driven algorithms and expanded content. Roku is also offering genre-based destinations, including For You. This is built on user interests and packed with fresh personalized picks and Subscriptions. This should make it convenient to browse and discover from across all your subscriptions in one place.
The new design also brings Search to key destinations with relevant suggestions and results. There’s also a streamlined, collapsible menu for easier navigation, and elevated shortcuts for everyday actions like Save List and Continued Watching. It brings a new ‘Your Daily Scoop’, which is a dynamic row that brings a curated digest of breakout shows and cultural trends. Lastly, there’s the Roku City title that takes you to an interactive version of your favorite screensaver.
