The Redmi K series has always been a favorite for those seeking high-end performance without the typical flagship price tag. Now, Xiaomi‘s sub-brand has launched the Redmi K90 Max to take things even further in the gaming-focused phone segment. This model arrives months after the announcement of the Redmi K90 Pro Max and Redmi K90.
Redmi K90 Max brings fan-powered active cooling
The K90 Max is one of the few handsets that can boast a built-in active cooling fan. While common in niche gaming devices, this is the first time a Xiaomi-branded phone has integrated a spinning fan directly into its chassis. Measuring 18.1mm in diameter, the fan works alongside a massive 6,000mm² vapor chamber to drop internal temperatures by up to 10°C during intense sessions.
Despite the integrated fan, the phone promises to be quite resilient. It carries a triple certification for ingress protection (IP66, IP68, and IP69). This means it can withstand dust, immersion, and even high-pressure water jets. Xiaomi even offers a six-year warranty on the fan for early adopters in China.

Performance and display
Under the hood, the K90 Max swaps the Snapdragon chips found in its siblings for MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9500. This processor is paired with a dedicated D2 graphics chip to ensure stable frame rates in demanding titles. Users can choose between 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, with storage options reaching up to 1TB of UFS 4.1.
The display is another highlight. It features a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. Thanks to TCL’s M10 luminous technology, the screen hits a peak local brightness of 3,500 nits. Gaming-centric optimizations are everywhere, including a 400Hz gyroscope sampling rate and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner integrated into the glass.

A massive silicon-carbon battery
The battery capacity is another impressive spec on the Redmi K90 Max. The device mounts a massive 8,550mAh Silicon-Carbon (Si-C) cell. This technology allows for much higher energy density in a smaller footprint. Plus, it supports 100W wired charging.
Mobile gaming fans will be happy about the inclusion of “bypass charging.” This feature allows the phone to draw power directly from the wall to run the hardware without actually charging the battery. This reduces heat and extends battery health during long gaming marathons.

Cameras and design
While performance is the priority, the camera setup seems relatively capable. There’s a decent 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a humbler 8MP ultrawide lens. For selfies, a 20MP camera sits in a small punch-hole cutout at the top of the flat display.
The design is surprisingly minimal for a “performance-first” phone. It features an aluminum alloy frame and comes in three colors: Space Silver, Shadow Black, and Sky Blue. Sound is handled by symmetrical dual speakers with Bose tuning with immersive effect.
Redmi K90 Max: Pricing and availability
The Redmi K90 Max is currently available in China, with prices starting at CNY 3,199 (approx. $469) for the 12/256GB model. The top-tier 16GB/1TB version reaches CNY 4,699 ($690). While these specs are impressive, Xiaomi has not yet shared details regarding a global release.
