The Price Of Personalization
The thing about one-off commissions is that they not only create interesting vehicles but can also generate substantial profits for automakers. Range Rover recently said that “the sky is the limit” for its bespoke pricing, as evidenced by the SV Asilomar Edition that debuted during Monterey Car Week last year and sold for about $550,000 to a U.S. customer.
Now, the British luxury brand is back at the California event, this time bringing the Range Rover SV Pearl Luster. It is a one-off commission designed to showcase what the brand’s bespoke program, launched in 2023, is capable of. Pricing wasn’t disclosed, but the vehicle won’t just be another payday for the automaker and a toy for the rich. A monetary donation from its sale will go to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, which protects California’s coastal marine life and ecosystems.

The Pearl Effect
The Range Rover SV Pearl Luster stands in stark contrast to the Range Rover SV Black, given its bright color palette. Range Rover said the one-off commission was inspired by the “natural beauty of White Abalone Pearl found along California’s rugged coastline,” which is apparent in the Bespoke White Pearl Gloss exterior. It also uses a set of 23-inch bespoke wheels with machined spokes, linear surface engraving, and gold-toned accents seen elsewhere on the vehicle.
The long-wheelbase interior comes with new Orchid leather paired with Mother of Pearl detailing. It is complemented by Natural Light Linear Wenge veneer with Natural White Mother of Pearl inlays and bespoke embroidery for added personalization. Additionally, it comes with the SV Signature Suite and interior accents featuring a new Range Rover Motif meant to celebrate its one-off status.
The press release didn’t address the powertrain. However, the standard Range Rover SV uses a 4.4-liter P615 twin-turbo V8 producing 606 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque.

A More Exclusive Way Forward
As mentioned, pricing wasn’t disclosed, but it should cost far more than the approximately $248,150 starting price of the long-wheelbase Range Rover SV. Guests at Range Rover House Pebble Beach will be the first to express interest in buying the one-off SUV.
Given the high-margin nature of one-off commissions, Range Rover could do even more of them, especially considering JLR’s broader volume headwinds. Its retail sales fell 15.3% year over year in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, while wholesales declined 9.2%. Bespoke commissions could provide an avenue for stronger profits and help Range Rover compete with more established players in the ultra-luxury bespoke space, such as Rolls-Royce and Bentley.
