Ram outsold Jeep in the third quarter, the first time this year that Stellantis’ top-selling brand has been pushed into second place. On momentum, the gap is wide: Ram is up 29% for the quarter, while Jeep is down 20%, a swing of more than 30,000 sales in each direction.Â
The third-quarter report from Stellantis puts Ram at 134,072 sales and Jeep at 128,542.
The Plan Said 2030
Stellantis’ own targets already put Ram ahead of Jeep eventually. They call for Ram to reach roughly 825,000 North American sales by 2030, about 85,000 more than Jeep’s goal. That was supposed to take the rest of the decade and a lineup that doesn’t exist yet, including a new midsize Dakota pickup.
Instead, it’s happening now, with the trucks Ram already sells. The gap has been closing all year. Jeep outsold Ram by about 32,500 vehicles in the first quarter and by about 17,500 in the second. In the third, Ram finished 5,530 ahead.

Stellantis says Ram 1500 retail sales rose 42%, well below the truck’s 73% total gain, which means fleet sales grew faster than retail. The retail growth is still real, but fleet drove a large share of the jump.Â

Jeep’s problem sits mostly in two models. The Grand Cherokee lost more than 16,000 sales and the Compass lost more than 17,000. The release doesn’t explain either drop. The Wrangler grew, and the new Cherokee Hybrid added 10,344 sales from almost nothing, but neither came close to covering the gap.

Jeep Still Leads The Year
The quarter doesn’t change the full-year picture yet. Through September, Jeep has sold 413,793 vehicles to Ram’s 369,379, a lead of about 44,000. That lead is shrinking fast, though. A year ago, Jeep was ahead by more than 142,000.

Stellantis as a whole sold 958,463 vehicles through September, up 3%. Ram accounts for all of that growth and then some.
Verdict: Ram’s Lead Is Real, Jeep’s Slide Is The Bigger Story

Ram
One quarter isn’t a takeover, and Jeep can still finish 2026 as Stellantis’ best-selling American brand. But the direction is clear. Ram is growing on the strength of one very popular truck, while Jeep is shrinking in the two SUVs that used to make up much of its volume. If the Grand Cherokee and Compass don’t recover, the 2030 target Stellantis set for Ram may arrive with years to spare.
