We’re seeing yet another Pixel-exclusive issue surface today, with a handful of users reporting a Pixel Recorder missing audio files bug. It can be stressful not to have your recordings saved either in the Recorder app or in the phone’s internal storage. But then it looks its not entirely widespread, as some report the app is working as usual.
Some Pixel users report a Recorder app bug causing audio files to go missing
Going into details, one Reddit user “username-invalid-s” says that the Pixel Recorder app isn’t saving their audio files. The post notes that the recordings are not present after hitting the stop button. The user apparently can’t find them in the app or anywhere in their phone’s storage. Pulling down to refresh the file list doesn’t make it appear.
Another user notes that performing the usual troubleshooting steps like going to Settings > Apps, selecting Recorder, and then clearing the cache (not storage) didn’t work either. It’s unclear what’s causing this, but several users responded in the comments facing the same issue with the Recorder app on their Pixel phones.
Doesn’t seem widespread
One user notes facing the same issue but says they do see the saved files on the Recorder app’s website (https://recorder.google.com). But then, this only works if files are backed up, which may not be the case for everyone. What’s worse is that some users note that all their previous recordings are also missing. It’s possible the files are saved but are not appearing within the app. Something within it could be preventing those recordings from showing up.
On that note, it doesn’t look like the issue is completely widespread. One user notes that they were able to access the recordings. Even then, a handful of users do seem to echo the same issue. The Pixel support team has responded in the comments. However, they just asked to reboot the phone in safe mode to see if any third-party app is causing this. If the issue still persists, they suggest reaching out to the Google Pixel support team.
