The Google Pixel 11 series is finally here. The lineup includes four models: the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. They bring some notable improvements and upgrades over last year’s Pixel 10. The design stays largely identical, though. But that’s not the focus here now. If you were hoping to get a 12-month free trial of the Google One AI Pro plan with the latest Pixel 11 series, you’re in for a disappointment.
Google cuts AI Pro trial from 12 months to six months for Pixel 11 Pro
As a bonus for getting the Pixel phone, Google has offered free access to its premium AI plans for the past couple of years. It started with the Pixel 9. This year, however, Google is reportedly cutting this back to six months for select Pixel 11 Pro models. Worse, it’s dropping it entirely for the base Pixel 11. In the US, Google AI Pro costs $19.99 per month. It includes 5TB of cloud storage, Google Health Premium, and expanded access to Gemini.
The latter has almost become an important part of the Pixel experience. Considering how closely Google has tied Gemini to its latest phones. Google has used these offers to get people to use Gemini and its more advanced features, so scaling it back isn’t a great look.
It’s dropping it entirely for the base model
That said, it was expected that these perks would shrink one day as more features moved behind the AI plan. Regardless, it’s still a disappointing move. Especially since a phone sold on the back of certain AI functionality may not have access to the advanced models needed to get the most out of those features.
Either way, you are not eligible for the trial if you currently subscribe to a Google One plan higher than 5TB, have an active Google One add-on, are a member of a Google One family plan, or pay your subscription through a third-party affiliate.
