After the initial teaser, Apple’s Beats brand has officially unveiled its new product in collaboration with The Pokémon Company International. The device in question is a special-edition Beats Pill speaker. The appeal of the special-edition Beats Pokemon Pill speaker is the Pikachu and Mimikyu artwork on the speaker grille. This gives it a distinctive design and helps it stand out from the sea of regular speakers.
The Pokemon Beats Pill speaker is limited to three countries
Like the regular Beats Pill models, the Pokemon X Beats Pill speaker is claimed to offer 24 hours of battery life. It also gets an IP67 dust and water resistance rating. It can also wirelessly pair two Beats Pills to deliver an immersive experience in Amplify Mode or Stereo Mode.
The special edition speaker can output lossless audio when connected to a source via USB-C. It can even charge compatible phones from the speaker’s USB Type-C port. This should come in handy when you’re out of battery.
It costs $149.99
Coming back to the design, the speaker looks like a standard Beats Pill with a gray body and grille. That’s beside the Pokemon artwork. It also comes with custom Pokemon charms, including a Poke Ball, the Beats “b” logo, and Pikachu’s signature lightning bolts. The design should be instantly appealing if you’re a fan of Pokemon and want to relive the nostalgia.
“Pokemon Trainers are some of the most passionate in the world, and we saw an opportunity to channel that energy into something fun, unexpected, and created especially for fans,” said Chris Thorne, Beats CMO. “This collaboration unites two brands rooted in culture, giving fans a new way to express their love of Pokemon through sound.”
As for the price, the Pokemon x Beats Pill will set you back $149.99, the same as other Beats Pill models. It will launch this Thursday, October 15th. The Pokemon edition Beats Pill will be available only in the US, UK, and China through Apple’s website and select retailers.
