The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 is the company’s latest and greatest flip foldable. In this article, we’ll compare it with its predecessor. In other words, this is a Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 comparison. Things did not change all that much from one generation to the next, actually. Everything from design to specs remained rather similar. There are some changes, though, of course.
As we usually do, we will first list the specs for both phones. Following that, we’ll compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. These two phones actually do look very, very similar, and quite frankly, if not for the color differences, they’d be very difficult to tell apart. With that being said, let’s get to it, shall we?

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Motorola Razr Ultra 2025: Design
These two phones look… well, near-identical. They do have different color options, but in terms of the overall design, they’re basically the same. The frame on both phones is slightly rounded, and so are the corners of the two phones. They both have a main display with a centered display camera hole up top, and that display folds right down the middle. The bezels around it are thin and uniform.
The power/lock button sits on the right-hand side of both phones, and the same goes for the volume up and down buttons. There is an AI button on the left side, and it is customizable. That’s it as far as buttons are concerned. The cover display on the two phones is the same size, and it looks the same. There are two horizontally-aligned cameras included in its top-left corner, along with an LED flash which sits on the right side. The display stretches all the way down to where the hinge is located… on both phones.
The backplate is flat on both devices, though it does curve slightly towards the edges. Both phones come with several different finishes of the backplate. Different colors deliver different finishes. There are two for the new model, and four for the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025. They weigh exactly the same, 199 grams, and they’re also the exact same size/dimensions. They both also offer an IP48 certification for water resistance.
Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Motorola Razr Ultra 2025: Display
These two smartphones have the exact same displays, it seems. You’ll find a 7-inch Foldable LTPO AMOLED display on both smartphones. That display goes up to 165Hz in terms of refresh rate, and it supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content. The resolution is 2992 x 1224 on both of them, and the peak brightness is a bit higher on the Razr Ultra 2025, at least on paper. That is not really something you’ll realize in actual use, though, as both can get immensely bright when needed.

The cover displays are the same. Both of them have an LTPO AMOLED panel that measures 4 inches. The resolution is 1272 x 1080 pixels, and the refresh rate goes up to 165Hz. Dolby Vision is supported, as is HDR10+ content. The peak brightness on both of these displays is 3,000 nits. Corning’s Gorilla Glass Ceramic is used to protect the cover display on both of these smartphones.
So, you’ll basically get the same experience here in terms of displays. That’s not a bad thing at all, as both of these displays are great. They’re vivid, bright, have great viewing angles, and good touch response. There’s not much to complain about, as even the refresh rate can go immensely high. We’ve had a great experience on both ends.
Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Motorola Razr Ultra 2025: Performance
When a company announces a next-gen phone, you do expect it to have a brand new chip, right? Well, that’s not the case here. Motorola opted to go for the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor in the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026, which is the same chip that was used in the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025. That is a 3nm processor, and it was Qualcomm’s flagship processor before the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 arrived.
In addition to having the same processor, these two smartphones also have the same RAM and storage. They’re both using 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. The storage is not expandable on either device. So, having the same chip, RAM, and storage probably means that they offer the same performance. Well, in day-to-day use, yes, the performance is very similar.
We still have not published our Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 review, but that is coming very soon. We’ll delve deeper into the performance side of things soon. But yes, it seems like the performance is very similar, as the hardware on the two phones would lead us to believe. Things could have been different if Motorola had actually changed things up with a new chip or something. We’re not complaining, though, as the performance seems to be quite good.
Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Motorola Razr Ultra 2025: Battery
This is one aspect where things changed a bit. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 has a larger battery pack than its predecessor. It uses a 5,000mAh battery, while the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 includes a 4,700mAh unit. We did notice some changes in durability, as the new model does seem to be able to last longer. We’ll talk more about that in our full review, but yes, the Razr Ultra 2026 does offer more in terms of battery longevity.
Now, in the general sense of things, it all depends on how much you end up using the main display. If you’re constantly hammering the main display and ignoring the cover panel, you may be disappointed with the battery life. If not, well, the battery life is not that bad, in all honesty. Besides, most people will probably use the cover display a lot, that’s kind of the whole point of the phone.
The charging speed is the same on these two phones. They both support 68W wired, 30W wireless, and 5W reverse wired charging. The charging speed should be fairly similar, even though the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 has a slightly larger battery. We’ll talk more about that in our full review. Do note that neither phone comes with a charger in the retail box.
Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Motorola Razr Ultra 2025: Cameras
While it may look like these two smartphones have the same cameras on paper, that’s not exactly the case. Yes, they both include a 50-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor and an f/1.8 aperture; however, the newer model comes with a LOFIC camera sensor. It should be able to do noticeably better in terms of photography, and we’ve noticed quite a few changes. We’ll talk more about that in our full review, which is coming soon.

Both smartphones have a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera on the inside and an f/2.0 aperture lens. In fact, the two phones use the same camera sensor for the ultrawide camera. You’re getting a 1/2.93-inch sensor size here. There is also a selfie camera on the foldable display, and both phones utilize a 50-megapixel unit there as well, with an f/2.0 aperture lens.
We did notice quite a few changes in terms of photography with the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026’s new main camera. The dynamic range has improved, along with some other things, but we’ll delve deeper into that in our full review. The ultrawide camera performance remains pretty much the same, and the same goes for the selfie camera.
Audio
Both of these smartphones have stereo speakers. Those speakers are actually quite good on both of them. The loudness is good, and so is the sound output quality. The speakers sound basically the same to us.
There is no audio jack on either of these two smartphones. You can, however, utilize their Type-C ports if you need to connect your wired headphones. Alternatively, Bluetooth 5.4 is at your disposal on both phones.
