Motorola announced a compelling lineup of flip foldable smartphones at the end of April this year. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 is the most powerful smartphone in that series, and we’re here to compare it to one of the company’s older models. In other words, we’ll be comparing the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Motorola Razr+ 2024. There’s a near two-year difference between these two phones, by the way.
Despite that difference in launch windows, the two phones look extremely similar. Motorola basically stuck with the same design for the new lineup. In all honesty, most people probably wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference. There are differences under the hood, though, of course. We’ll first list the specs of these two phones, and then we’ll move to compare them across a number of categories.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Motorola Razr+ 2024: Design
As already mentioned, design-wise, these two phones are nearly identical. The dimensions are almost completely identical, and so is the overall design. Both smartphones have rounded corners and a centered display camera hole at the top of their main panel. The power/lock button sits on the right-hand side on both phones, along with the volume up and down keys.
There is a difference on the left side, though. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 has an AI key, while the Motorola Razr+ 2024 does not. So there’s an extra key on the ‘Ultra’ model. Both phones have a frame made out of aluminum, and that frame is not flat on either phone. It’s actually slightly rounded. The two phones look basically the same no matter which side you look from, if you don’t know to look for an AI key on the ‘Ultra’ model.
Even from the back, it’s difficult to tell them apart, if not for different colors. They both have a 4-inch cover display with two cameras in the top-left corner. Those two cameras are horizontally aligned, and the cover display on both phones goes down to where the hinge sits. So it essentially covers half of the phone’s back side. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 is a bit heavier, by 10 grams. It also comes in two different finishes on the back, while the Motorola Razr+ 2024 offers eco leather on the back. They do feel a bit different in the hand because of that.
Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Motorola Razr+ 2024: Display
The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 features a 7-inch Foldable LTPO AMOLED main panel. That display can project up to 1 billion colors, while it supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+. It also offers up to 165Hz of refresh rate and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits (in theory). The resolution here is 2992 x 1224 pixels. The second display is a 4-inch LTPO AMOLED panel that also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content and has the same refresh rate as the main panel. The peak brightness here is 3,000 nits, and the resolution is 1272 x 1080 pixels. Corning’s Gorilla Glass Ceramic protects this panel.
The Motorola Razr+ 2024, on the other hand, has a 6.9-inch Foldable LTPO AMOLED main panel. That display also has a 165Hz refresh rate and can project up to 1 billion colors. It supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content as well. The resolution here is 2640 x 1080 pixels. The cover display is almost identical to the one on the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026; there are two differences. It has a bit lower peak brightness at 3,000 nits, and the protection Motorola used here is Gorilla Glass Victus, not Ceramic.
The bottom line is, all four of these panels are great, and you won’t really miss the advantages the ‘Ultra’ offers. Yes, it has a bit brighter panels, but the difference in actual use is not that great. All displays get bright enough. The refresh rate is nice and high, while all panels are more than sharp enough. The viewing angles are also very good.
Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Motorola Razr+ 2024: Performance
The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor from Qualcomm. That’s a 3nm chip from the company and was once Qualcomm’s flagship offering. It’s paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM here and 512GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. Do note that the storage is not expandable.
The Motorola Razr+ 2024, on the other hand, is fueled by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, which is a 4nm processor. That chip is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5 or LPDDR5X RAM. Motorola is using UFS 4.0 for storage here, and there’s only a 256GB storage model available. The storage is not expandable here either.
Yes, the Motorola Razr+ 2024 has an inferior chip in comparison, but you really wouldn’t be able to tell in day-to-day use. Both smartphones are very snappy, and the general performance is quite good. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 will do a better job of handling games, though, and if you compare them side-by-side, you will notice that the ‘Ultra’ has a bit more speed oomph. The point is, lag is not a part of the experience on either phone; the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is plenty fast still.
Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Motorola Razr+ 2024: Battery
There is a 5,000mAh battery included in the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026. The Motorola Razr+ 2024, on the other hand, includes a 4,000mAh unit. Yes, that’s quite a difference in terms of battery capacity, and yes, the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 does offer better battery life. In fact, if you’re not using the main display a ton, the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 will last a whole day without a problem.
The Motorola Razr+ 2024 does not have bad battery life, but it’s not that good either. It can last a whole day, but it all depends on your usage. Still, it does provide well over an hour less of screen-on-time than the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026; that difference is often even more pronounced. If you really need the device with better battery life, the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 is a far better choice.
When it comes to charging, that’s where the newer model also has an edge. It supports 68W wired charging, along with 30W wireless and 5W reverse wired charging. The Motorola Razr+ 2024, on the other hand, supports 45W wired, 15W wireless, and 5W reverse wired charging. Neither phone ships with a charger in the box, though.
Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Motorola Razr+ 2024: Cameras
The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 has two cameras on the back. Its 50-megapixel main camera has a 1/1.56-inch sensor size, an f/1.8 aperture, and supports PDAF and OIS. The second camera on the back is a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit with a 1/2.93-inch sensor size, f/.0 aperture, and a 122-degree FoV.
The Motorola Razr+ 2024, on the flip side, includes two cameras on the back as well. Its main 50-megapixel unit has an f/1.7 aperture, 1/1.95-inch sensor size, and supports dual pixel PDAF and OIS. The second camera is a 50-megapixel telephoto unit, with an f/2.0 aperture, 1/2.76-inch sensor size, PDAF, and 2x optical zoom.
The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 does a better job when it comes to the main camera. The colors are better, while the camera can also provide more detail. The differences become even more obvious in low light. The ultrawide camera on the phone is nothing to write home about, and the same goes for the telephoto camera on the Razr+ 2024. Chances are you’ll want to use the crop from the main camera for 2x rather than that dedicated telephoto unit, especially in low light.
Audio
You will find stereo speakers on both of these phones. They are loud enough on both phones, though not to the level of most other (regular) flagship smartphones. The sound quality is good enough.
There is no audio jack on either phone. You can utilize their Type-C ports, though, to connect your wired headphones. Alternatively, Bluetooth 5.4 is on offer on both smartphones, for wireless audio connectivity.
