Motorola announced three flip phone foldables last month. The Motorola Razr 2026 is the base model in that lineup, and we’re here to compare it with its predecessor. In other words, we’ll be comparing the Motorola Razr 2026 vs Motorola Razr 2025. These two smartphones actually look basically identical, save for different color options and all that. Motorola decided not to mess with the existing design.
Having said that, there are some differences in the spec department, but there are also a lot of similarities here. In any case, we’ll first list the specs for both smartphones. Following that, we’ll compare them across a number of categories. We’ll be comparing their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. Let’s get to ti, shall we?

Motorola Razr 2026 vs Motorola Razr 2025: Design
As you can see, the two smartphones look very similar. In fact, if you don’t know which color belongs to which phone, you’d never guess which is which. They’re basically identical. Not only do they look the same, but they have identical dimensions and weight as well. It’s practically impossible to tell them apart if you don’t know which colors are tied to which phone. Both phones weigh 188 grams, by the way.
The main display has a centered display camera hole up top on both phones. Even the bezels around it are the same on the two devices. The power/lock button sits on the right-hand side alongside the volume up and down buttons. Those are the only buttons on these two devices. The frame is not completely flat on the two phones; it is slightly rounded. The corners of the phones are rounded as well, and the corner curvature is identical.
The backplate on the two phones is flat, though it does curve slightly towards the edges. The two phones have the same cover display size, and two horizontal cameras are placed inside that display, in the top-left corner. Next to them sits an LED flash. Both smartphones also come with IP48 certification. The Motorola Razr 2026 does have the advantage of MIL-STD-810H certification as well, though.
Motorola Razr 2026 vs Motorola Razr 2025: Display
These two phones not only look the same, but have the same displays as well. That goes for both main (foldable) and cover displays. They are completely identical, in every way. So, you’re getting a 6.9-inch Foldable LTPO AMOLED display on the two phones. That panel can project up to 1 billion colors, and it has an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). Dolby Vision is supported, as is HDR10+ content. The peak brightness here is 3,000 nits. The screen-to-body ratio on both is around 85%. The resolution here is 2640 x 1080 pixels.

The cover display on both phones measures 3.6 inches, and it’s an AMOLED display. It can project up to 1 billion colors, and it offers a 90Hz refresh rate. HDR10+ content is supported, while the peak brightness is 1,700 nits. The resolution here is 1066 x 1056 pixels, while the Gorilla Glass Victus protects the cover display on both smartphones.
All of these displays are quite good. They’re inferior to the ones on the ‘Ultra’ models, but still great. They’re more than sharp enough, while you’re also getting a high refresh rate on all of them. Yes, the cover display is “only” a 90Hz panel, but that didn’t bother us all that much. All displays offer vivid colors and good viewing angles as well. Chances are you’ll be happy with what they have to offer. There is really no difference in displays between the two phones.
Motorola Razr 2026 vs Motorola Razr 2025: Performance
The Motorola Razr 2026 is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 7450X processor. That is a 4nm chip, and it’s paired with 8GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage. You can choose between 128GB and 256GB storage options here. Do note that the storage is not expandable, though, so be careful which version you end up picking.
The Motorola Razr 2025, on the flip side, is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400X chip. That chip is backed by 8GB of RAM and UFS 2.2 flash storage. This smartphone does not come in two storage options, but a single one, it comes with 256GB of storage. The storage is not expandable.
Both of these chips use the same CPU and GPU, but there are some differences in connectivity capabilities, AI performance, and power efficiency. The Motorola Razr 2026 also has faster storage, which is a good thing. We still did not review the newer model, but based on our short experience with it, it is a bit snappier than the Motorola Razr 2025, which is not exactly a speed demon.
Motorola Razr 2026 vs Motorola Razr 2025: Battery
The Motorola Razr 2026 includes a 4,800mAh battery on the inside. The Razr 2025, on the flip side, has a 4,500mAh battery included. The Motorola Razr 2025 was not exactly a great smartphone in terms of battery life. It, of course, depends on how much you’re using the cover display vs the main panel, but in general, it wasn’t that great. The Motorola Razr 2026 should be able to offer more in that regard.
It has a slightly better processor in terms of power efficiency, while it also comes with a larger battery. The difference in battery capacity is not big, but it’s there. Don’t expect miracles, but the battery life should be better overall. We cannot attest to that from our experience just yet, however, as we did not review the device at the time of writing this article.
What about charging? Well, there’s no change in that department from the old model. Both smartphones support 30W wired and 15W wireless charging. Yes, the old model should be able to charge a bit faster, as it does have a smaller battery, in theory. We did not test the charging on the Razr 2026 yet, though. The Motorola Razr 2025 can reach a full charge in 55 minutes, though, with a compatible charger.
Motorola Razr 2026 vs Motorola Razr 2025: Cameras
Motorola did upgrade the ultrawide camera on the new model, but the main camera is the same. The Motorola Razr 2026 and Razr 2025 have a 50-megapixel main camera on the back. That camera has an f/1.7 aperture lens and a 1/1.95-inch sensor size. The pixel size is 0.8μm on that sensor, and OIS is supported on both smartphones, and the same goes for dual pixel PDAF.

The Motorola Razr 2026 has a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera on the back. It has an f/2.0 aperture lens, along with a 1/2.76-inch sensor size. It also offers a 0.64um pixel size and a 122-degree FoV. The Motorola Razr 2025, on the flip side, has a 13-megapixel ultrawide snapper with an f/2.2 aperture lens. The sensor size here is a 1/3.0-inch one, and the pixel size is 1.12μm. This camera also offers a 120-degree FoV.
The Motorola Razr 2025 offers good camera performance, but the main camera can overdo it with processing a bit, during the day, other than that, it does a fine job. It also doesn’t stumble in low light; it’s not spectacular, but it does a respectable job with good dynamic range. The same cannot be said for the ultrawide camera, as it’s a noticeable step back in both day and night. When it comes to the main camera performance, we expect the Razr 2026 to do a very similar job, actually.
Audio
Both of these smartphones do have stereo speakers. The speakers on them are good in terms of loudness, and the audio output is fine too. They sound very similar, and it’s possible Motorola used the same hardware here.
There is no audio jack on either phone, however. You can still utilize their Type-C ports to connect your wired headphones, though. Alternatively, both smartphones support Bluetooth 5.4 for wireless audio connectivity.
