After the OxygenOS 16 update, OnePlus is now seeding the mid-cycle OxygenOS 16.1 update, starting with the flagship OnePlus 15. It’s still based on Android 16. The new version builds on OxygenOS 16 and focuses on improved system animations, better AI processing, camera-centric refinements, a redesigned lock-screen experience, and much more.
OxygenOS 16.1 rollout begins with OnePlus 15
The latest OxygenOS 16.1 update to the OnePlus 15 carries the firmware version CPH2745_16.0.7.201 (EX01) and reportedly has a download size of around 2.1GB. The update also integrates the May 2026 Android security patch. It is already rolling out to users in India in batches, but it should expand to other regions where the phone is available in the next few days.
You can check for the update manually. Head to Settings > About device, then tap the OxygenOS card at the top to check for updates. OnePlus says this OTA will reach a small percentage of users first, and then gradually expand to more users in a few days. This is possibly done to see if there are any bugs in the new build.
AI improvements, Live Space, and smoother animations
Coming to what’s new in the OxygenOS 16.1. The update brings Live Space, which is basically similar to the ‘Now Bar’ on Samsung devices. It’s a notification capsule at the bottom of the lock screen that displays notifications and Live Updates without covering the wallpaper. This lets you view key information at a glance without unlocking the device. OnePlus says that smooth animations make the whole interaction feel effortless.
The official changelog also mentions better AI processing for Photos and Documents. The Translate app now includes a dedicated on-device AI model that delivers natural and accurate translations even when you’re offline. Meanwhile, thanks to AI-powered Documents, the scanned documents are auto-saved to the Documents app right after capture. The company claims document scanning is now faster, and the upgraded scanning algorithms remove wrinkles, shadows, and blur with one tap.
The update also includes the May 2026 Android security patch
OxygenOS 16.1 brings improvements to home screen customization as well. It allows you to organize the home screen instantly by color or category. You can now find apps by color in the app drawer. The Trinity Engine also sees improvement. The AI-reconstructed touch recognition eliminates scrolling jitters inside apps for a smoother experience.
OxygenOS 16.1 introduces ‘Master presets,’ which allow you to save your custom parameters as presets and share them via watermarks. Additionally, the Camera app gets a cleaner UI. Battery stats are getting more informative, with new coverage of personal hotspot usage and activity time at the app level. The update also offers better protection against unwanted calls.
