One of the best-known tipsters around claims that OnePlus will start using 240Hz refresh rate displays in future devices. That will likely not happen with the OnePlus 16, but we could see it next year.
The OnePlus 16 could ship with a 1.5K OLED display with an 185Hz refresh rate
The OnePlus 16 is expected to include a 1.5K OLED display with an 185Hz refresh rate. That will be an improvement over the OnePlus 15’s 1.5K OLED display with a 165Hz. To date, the OnePlus 15 is still the only phone to offer such a combo.
The company plans to up the ante with the OnePlus 16, and future plans include 240Hz displays. In fact, if possible, OnePlus would love to introduce a 2K OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate. Power efficiency is a huge question mark in that combination, so… we’ll have to wait and see.
The OnePlus 17 could follow with a 2K OLED display that includes either an 185Hz or 240Hz refresh rate; we’ll see. We’re still months away from the OnePlus 16’s arrival, let alone the OnePlus 17’s.
Future OnePlus devices could include 240Hz displays
Many would say that 240Hz is overkill on phones, as the vast majority of people won’t even notice a difference. The advantage does become noticeable in high-end gaming, though, plus some users will notice a difference in general.
In regard to the OnePlus 16, that phone is still a bit of a mystery. Some conflicting camera rumors surfaced recently. It will either have a 200MP main or 200MP periscope telephoto camera; it’s a mystery.
The phone is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip that is coming later this year. A large silicon-carbon battery is also expected, along with other high-end specifications, as per usual for OnePlus’ flagships.
