Keeping track of modern tablet names can feel like a total headache, but OnePlus just dropped a new device that clears up any confusion about who rules their lineup. The company quietly launched the OnePlus Pad 3 Pro in China, and it easily lands as their most powerful slate to date. Serving as the official successor to last year’s Pad 2 Pro and as an improved version of the OnePlus Pad 3 (Review), the new model borrows some design cues from the globally available Pad 4 but injects a massive dose of flagship performance under the hood.
The star of the show here is Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. OnePlus claims this chip pushes an impressive 52% higher AnTuTu score compared to standard, older 8 Elite tablets. That means that, on paper, you get a 20% boost in CPU speed and a 23% faster GPU.
A giant screen built for work and play
Of course, incredible speed doesn’t mean much without a great screen to back it up. The front features a generous 13.2-inch LCD panel with a sharp 3,392 x 2,400 resolution and a squarish 7:5 aspect ratio. It adapts dynamically, switching anywhere from 30Hz up to a 144Hz refresh rate depending on what you are doing. Add in a 540Hz touch sampling rate, 1,000 nits of peak brightness, and Dolby Vision support.
The sleek metal chassis measures an ultra-thin 5.94mm and weighs around 672 grams. Still, the engineers managed to squeeze a massive 13,380mAh battery inside. When the battery eventually runs dry, the 67W SuperVOOC fast charging gets you back in the game quickly.
The OnePlus Pad 3 Pro runs on ColorOS 16 right out of the box. The software offers smart ecosystem perks like seamless mouse, keyboard, and screen sharing across your devices. For productivity fans, the smart stylus integration uses on-device AI to instantly turn your messy handwritten scribbles into clean, organized mind maps and tables.
The configuration breakdown and the catch
The rest of the hardware checklist leaves very little to be desired. You get an 8-megapixel front camera for clean video calls, a 13-megapixel rear camera for snapping documents, and a robust eight-speaker audio system for immersive sound. Connectivity is fully future-proof too, bringing Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and a fast USB 3.2 Gen 1 port to the table.
OnePlus is launching the tablet in Dark Brown and Light Green colorways. The firm is keeping a charger and a USB A-to-C cable right inside the retail box. You can choose between three storage configurations directly from the Oppo online store:
- 12GB RAM + 256GB storage: Starts at 4,399 Yuan (around $650).
- 12GB RAM + 512GB storage: Hits 4,899 Yuan (around $725).
- 16GB RAM + 512GB storage: The top-tier beast lands at 5,399 Yuan (around $800).
Now for the obvious catch: this powerhouse is strictly limited to the Chinese market for the time being. However, since previous Pro generations eventually made their way across borders, global hardware fans should definitely keep their eyes peeled for an international launch down the road.
