OnePlus is not a new name in the tablet space. The company has both flagship models and budget offerings, catering to different user needs. The OnePlus Tab 3, which is its current premium model, is already a beast with Snapdragon 8 Elite, a 3.4K display, and a 12,140mAh battery. It seems that the company wants to make things even more interesting. A new rumor claims that OnePlus is readying a beast of a tablet with a large battery and a powerful chip.
OnePlus is testing a new tablet with a large battery and a Snapdragon chip
Tipster Yogesh Brar on X says that OnePlus is testing a new high-end tablet with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip. If this is true, it will become one of the first Android tablets to use this processor. This sits a step below the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Regardless, it’s still a premium SoC and should be able to handle gaming and everyday tasks with ease. It seems like the choice of chip is intentional to keep the pricing in check.
He further adds that the test unit has a 12-inch display. For comparison, the OnePlus Pad 3 (review) rocks a bigger 13.2-inch 3.4K display with up to a 144Hz refresh rate. That said, the 12-inch size should still be perfect for multiple use cases, like media consumption, gaming, or productivity tasks.
May launch around June
The upcoming OnePlus tablet will reportedly house a large 12,000mAh+ battery. This puts it in similar leagues to the OnePlus Pad 3, which has a 12,140mAh cell with 80W fast charging. Lastly, the tipster says the new tablet will launch around June. That’s about it for the leak. At the moment, it’s also not clear where the new model will land in the company’s tablet portfolio.
Going by the details we now have, it seems this OnePlus tablet will be a premium offering that will look to compete with Apple and Samsung offerings in this segment.
