Despite the company’s exit from the US and Europe, there’s still some interest in the OnePlus 16 flagship. Especially considering what leaks have revealed so far. Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station has now shed more light on the OnePlus 16, claiming that it’ll house three custom in-house chips. Here’s what we know.
OnePlus 16 could feature three custom chips to improve gaming experience
The tipster previously revealed that OnePlus was working on a new version of its e-sports triple-core technology. The new leak offers more details about it. There will be three new self-developed chips to boost the gaming experience. He mentions a new P4 display chip, G3 network chip, and T3 touch response chip.Â
The tipster notes that OnePlus 16 will be the first flagship to house all three new chips. These will be in addition to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip. To recall, the OnePlus 15 features the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 paired with a G2 Wi-Fi chip and a dedicated touch response chip. So the successor is evidently bringing upgrades.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro at the helm
Each one of the chips will handle different tasks to improve the gaming experience. The display chip should help reduce screen response times, while the network chip will work to improve network connectivity, which is most important for online gaming. Lastly, the touch chip will likely make touch inputs register faster.Â
Digital Chat Station claims that this combination aims to deliver a smooth FPS gaming experience. He adds that FPS game studios are working with OnePlus to better optimize the gaming experience. Meanwhile, the main chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, will be built using TSMC’s 2nm process and could feature new Oryon CPU cores ticking above 5GHz.Â
So besides the gaming experience, the performance of the OnePlus 16 will also see a generational upgrade over its predecessor. But considering this is just a leak, it’s better to take it with a pinch of salt until the company officially confirms. The flagship could debut in China in October. However, its global availability, albeit in fewer regions, remains unclear.
