One UI 9.0 for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has reportedly increased the rate at which the battery drains, as one user has complained of worse battery life following the installation of the latest software.
Samsung officially pushed out the One UI 9.0 upgrade to its Galaxy S24 series phones in early October, bringing the phone forward to Android 17 and ushering in new features, UI design, and more, which Samsung has been testing in beta form on several of its devices for months. Now that the official software is out, though, at least one user is complaining of battery drain that is claimed to be considerably more than it should after this big of a software update.
One UI 9.0 on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra doesn’t seem to heavily increase battery drain for most users
Based on the report from Sammy Fans, the issue with increased battery drain on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra doesn’t appear to be a widespread one. The report states that one user has complained, and then was advised by Samsung’s Indian subsidiary to call a service center and inquire about potential assistance with the issue, implying perhaps that a battery replacement may be in order.
The report also makes a claim that a majority of consumers who have the phone and have updated to One UI 9 are happy with the update, thus implying that the increased battery drain may not be hitting many users. It’s also stated that a sudden battery drop after a big update is considered normal.
That being said, the user who made the initial complaint about the increased battery drain has shared a screenshot of their daily use following the update, and screen-on time is calculated at just 3 hours and 15 minutes, with total use time at 5 hours and 20 minutes, which drained the battery down to 5% from a full charge.
