Samsung is reportedly testing internal builds of One UI 9.5 on the Galaxy S26 series devices, and part of that software build for its non-foldable flagships is bringing over some features that recently shipped with the Galaxy Z8 series devices like the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The features in question are the Google Search bar and the Finder bar, both of which can now be added to the home screen as built-in tools.
On the Galaxy Z Flip 8, for example, you can go into the phone settings, find the home screen menu, and in there find a sub-menu for “show search on home screen.” In that sub-menu is a toggle for the Google Search Bar and the Finder bar, and toggling them on places those at the bottom part of the home screen UI.
One UI 9.5 on the Galaxy S26 series also introduces other new animations and design changes
The Google Search bar and the Finder bar aren’t the only new changes from the Galaxy Z8 series coming over to older devices with One UI 9.5. According to Fahad Ali Javed on X, there’s also built-in native app mirroring for laptops. This will require that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are signed into the same Samsung account.
Additionally, Samsung has added a new visual animations for the fingerprint reader, and made some changes to the camera app UI. Specifically with the sub-menu that pops up with the different settings for changing between Megapixel count, adjust white balance, and more. This now gets set as an overlay on top of the camera’s viewfinder.
These changes are already being tested on the Galaxy S26 series, but it’s not clear what devices will end up with the software first or what will come after.
