Samsung is taking its time to perfect the next major software leap for its flagship devices. In a move that deviates from its typical four-to-five build cycle, the company has just released the ninth beta version of One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S25 series. This happens on the same day that the South Korean giant significantly expands the scope of the beta program.
AirDrop file sharing support reaches Galaxy S25 with Samsung One UI 8.5 Beta 9 update
The most significant addition in this build for Galaxy S25 devices is the integration of AirDrop support via Quick Share. For years, transferring files between a Galaxy and an iPhone was a multi-step headache. This new update aims to simplify that process. It essentially allows S25 users to exchange files with Apple devices more seamlessly.
Beyond connectivity, the update brings fresh tools for mobile photographers. Samsung has introduced three new camera filters: Classic Film, Pop Film, and Blanc. These additions give users more aesthetic flexibility right out of the box.
The 865MB update also addresses several nagging issues that beta testers have reported. Regarding connectivity, the company patched Bluetooth bugs that caused random disconnections. Samsung also fixed screen flickering during dual recording and stuttering when going through gallery albums. Even stability got a boost with the fix to the Always On Display (AOD) clock and cut-off/erratic notification cards during screen rotation.

The road to stable
While the Galaxy S25 receives its ninth update, the Galaxy S24 series is also moving forward with its second beta build of One UI 8.5. According to various industry reports, we might see one final Beta 10 before Samsung pulls the trigger on the official rollout.
If the current testing pace continues, the stable version of One UI 8.5 could begin appearing on devices as early as the end of this month. As usual, the process will probably begin in South Korea, the firm’s headquarters country. After that, a global rollout is likely to follow in May.
