Google has officially announced its latest devices, the Pixel 11 series phones, alongside the Pixel Watch 5 and the Pixel Tag, as well as a new Olive color of the Pixel Buds Pro 2 on August 12 at its recent Made by Google event. The Pixel 11 series phones have now also reportedly been rated by the European Product Registry for Energy Labeling, and the outcome gives some insight into the durability of Google’s newest phones.
As part of these ratings, the Pixel 11, the Pixel 11 Pro, the Pixel 11 Pro XL, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold have all been tested in a series of drops to see how long they could last before gaining a defect. These aren’t the standard types of durability tests that usually make the rounds online from content creators. While the EPREL does do drop testing, it focuses on the number of times a device can free-fall without defects forming as opposed to cracked screens and other types of physical damage. EPREL also tests energy efficiency, repairability, and water and dust resistance, and it gives each of those categories a letter ranking. This has been done across all four of Google’s new Pixel 11 series phones.
Pixel 11 durability ranks at an A for all except one of the phone models
According to the rankings from last year’s Pixel 10 series, all of the Pixel 11 phones have the same durability as last year’s phones, except for one: The Pixel 11 Pro. EPREL rates it for durability at a B compared to last year’s A ranking. EPREL says that it was able to successfully have the phone free-fall 180 times before defect. It’s energy efficiency, water and dust resistance, and repairability were all ranked at a B, which earned it an overall B ranking.
Google’s other Pixel 11 phones had overall B rankings as well, but they scored durability rankings at an A level, which is free-falling about 270 times before defects formed. EPREL also lists that batteries on all phones should still contain about 80% of their capacity even after 1,000 charge cycles. As for individual battery life, the Pixel 11 lasted for up to 48 hours and 50 minutes, while the Pixel 11 pro lasted for up to 47 hours and 36 minutes, the Pixel 11 Pro XL at up to 50 hours and 10 minutes, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at up to 45 hours and 5 minutes.
