The first non-Pixel phone with GrapheneOS support has just been confirmed… it’s the Motorola Signature 27. That handset was announced a couple of days ago as part of the Snapdragon Summit 2026.
GrapheneOS confirmed that support is coming to the Motorola Signature 27
GrapheneOS confirmed as much via X, while replying to one of the users. He straight up asked whether the phone will support GrapheneOS, and the company said “yes.” GrapheneOS also said that more information is coming soon.
This is a big deal, as the Motorola Signature 27 will be the very first non-Pixel phone that supports GrapheneOS. In case you’re wondering, GrapheneOS is a privacy and security mobile OS with Android app compatibility. It’s also important to note that it’s developed as a non-profit open-source project.
This is not completely surprising, as GrapheneOS said back in July that Motorola support is coming. It was said that the first Motorola devices with GrapheneOS support would be high-end flagships with Qualcomm’s top Snapdragon platforms.
The Motorola Signature 27 checks all the boxes
The project has highlighted hardware memory tagging, stronger secure-element integration, and seven years of updates as key requirements for making the support possible. The Motorola Signature 27 checks all of those boxes.
The phone utilizes the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip and is promised to get 7 years’ worth of Android OS updates and security patches as well.
It’s also worth noting that GrapheneOS had some issues with Google recently. The company hit a problem when it comes to support for the Pixel 11 series, as MTE support was an issue. GrapheneOS also criticized Google’s new manual process for accessing Pixel driver source code and accused the company of gatekeeping some Android 17 APIs and security fixes.
GrapheneOS is also overhauling its Messaging app and planning native RCS support to reduce dependence on Google Messages. It’s also replacing aging AOSP apps and rolling out new privacy features.
