As British as Fish and Chips
The British motoring industry is one of great highs and crushing lows. But despite all the challenges, the Mini has stayed strong and resilient, even as many of its compatriot brands have crumbled around it. The ten-foot motorized symbol of Englishness has deeply rooted itself in British pop culture and has won many fans around the world.
Okay, it’s been under BMW’s wing for decades now, but the cars still retain some of the charm of the original from 1959, at least in the modern hatchbacks. The company also likes to constantly remind everyone where it came from, and the latest special edition model does just that.

Meet the Cooper S Heritage Edition
Simply named the Heritage Edition, it gets a smattering of Union Jack-themed details inside and out. But this model wasn’t made just for the heck of it; it’s to celebrate 25 years of the modern Mini by proudly showing off its roots.
One would think that this will be a model unique to the UK and the rest of Europe. As it turns out, it’s going to cross the Atlantic to the U.S, and will be sold in limited numbers. For anyone interested, reservations are now open for the Heritage Edition, and the cars are expected to arrive stateside by early Fall, 2026.

What it Gets
The special-edition model is based on the Cooper S, so it gets the 201 hp and 221 lb-ft tune of the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. There’s a good amount of performance out of it, so we wouldn’t call this car all show and no go. Each car comes with Iconic Trim with Comfort Package Plus and the ‘Slide Spoke’ alloys.
To state the obvious, the roof, hood, and tailgate are designed to resemble the Union Jack flag, and there’s also a Union Jack badge on the tailgate for good measure. Inside, there are more Union Jack design details on the steering wheel and floor mats, and even the tire valve caps and wheel center caps aren’t spared from the patriotic treatment. Two color choices are available, namely Chili Red II and Indigo Sunset Blue Metallic.

The Icon Drop Series
The Heritage Edition part of something called the Icon Drop Series. This new addition to the series joins the 1965 Victory, Red Line, and Paul Smith edition models, and more will be revealed in the coming months.
A total of eight will be introduced, so four more will be unveiled down the line. The next drop will be in August 2026, and two more will be shown in October 2026. The final drop will be in March 2027, and each one will have a corresponding theme.
