Meta has debuted a redesigned cross-app account management system intended to simplify how users navigate its service ecosystem. The tech firm has announced a centralized hub called Meta Account, which brings together settings for Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Meta AI glasses in a single place.
This update addresses ongoing platform fragmentation issues by allowing people to control logins, security preferences, and connected devices from a single dashboard.
Meta brings a cross-app management hub to centralize settings across platforms
The new Meta Account structure brings cross-app management to let users have a single password across multiple platforms. Additionally, users can utilize biometric Passkeys instead of traditional credentials. The Passkey authentication, which uses device-level facial recognition or fingerprints to verify a user’s identity, is now expanding to Instagram alongside existing support on Facebook and Messenger apps.
Thanks to the new Meta Account interface, users can manage two-factor authentication methods and associated emails centrally rather than going through different menus inside each Meta app they use. Meta also points out that users will still handle certain privacy settings, such as post visibility or photo tagging controls, separately within each app.
It’s worth mentioning that Meta has made the system flexible. For example, a user can choose to keep their Facebook profile completely unlinked from their Instagram or WhatsApp messages, which ensures that personal, professional, and messaging spaces remain separate if preferred.
Parents can also use a single hub to manage teen accounts across Meta applications
Another important part of the new Meta Account update is the integration of the Family Center directly into the primary account dashboard. Parents can now supervise features for their child’s account across Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and the Meta Horizon virtual environment from a single dashboard.
The new interface eliminates the previous requirement to switch between different applications to monitor teen activity or adjust safety restrictions. Meta also said that while it centralizes management tools, end-to-end encryption will continue to protect DMs and voice calls on apps like WhatsApp.
With the Meta Account hub, the company aims to streamline the account management system to improve the user experience across apps. The company said that it will gradually release the upgrade across the globe over the next year.
