On a Roll
Mercedes-Benz is determined to sell more cars than ever. After all, it’s been years since it’s ahead of BMW, and the company would like its sales crown back. This year has seen the launch of several all-new and updated models. It’s not just from the core lineup, either, as AMG and Maybach have been doing their part, too.
AMG, in particular, has been on a roll. There was the GT 4-Door from earlier this year, along with the return of six-cylinder power in the GLC with the GLC 53. AMG’s commitment to V8 power has been reassured in the new GLE 63 and GLS 63, and more recently, the CLA 45 made its world premiere as a baby GT 4-Door. Let’s not forget there are more on the way, too, namely the updated S 63 and the CLE 63 Mythos.

Another Day, Another New AMG
So far, there are five new AMG models that have joined the lineup in eight months. Some are expected, while others are genuine surprises. For its next world premiere, it falls in the latter camp.
Mercedes-AMG recently posted a teaser of a new model in its socials. So far, it doesn’t have a name yet, nor has a launch date been locked it. That said, we have a sneaking suspicion that it’s a GT SUV given the profile under the blanket. Perhaps it was inevitable, although this looks like atonement for the AMG EQE SUV.

What to Expect
Of course, it’s not confirmed by AMG if it is, indeed, a GT SUV, but the roof rails peeking through don’t lie. We can at least confirm that it’s a crossover, but the name is yet to be determined. Also, the side profile suggests it will have a fastback body, and the tail lights give it a connection to the GT 4-Door.
If it is the GT SUV, it could be based off the 4-Door model utilziling the AMG.EA architecture. If so, it’ll benefit from the axial-flux batteries, along with a tri-motor arrangement in its most potent form. We might see an ‘entry-level’ dual-motor model like the GT 53 4-Door with at least 536 hp, but it won’t be too surprising if the 63 version will pack over 1,000 hp.
In the meantime, we wait for the covers to be pulled for the full reveal. Given that it’s been teased, the premiere might just be a few weeks or days away.
