Safety Above All Else
Mazda’s drive towards safety has proven fruitful; the brand sells some of the safest cars on the market today, as evidenced by the multiple IIHS Top Safety Pick and Safety Pick+ recognitions given to them.
Despite having a somewhat down year in terms of sales, the brand has promised to continue to make safety a main selling point in order to keep customers coming. Mazda’s doing just that with a new partnership that takes its safety campaign beyond just the cars they engineer.

All Around Safety
Mazda just announced that it has entered a new partnership agreement with the American Automobile Association (AAA), the leading roadside assistance provider, and HAAS Alert, another leader when it comes to connected vehicle safety. The partnership with AAA and HAAS will now enable a feature that will send out real-time digital alerts that will warn approaching motorists when a Mazda customer is stopped on the roadside and has requested roadside assistance.
According to all parties, this feature, which is powered by AAA’s Roadside Assistance Program and HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud Protect service, was done to further Mazda’s new commitment to provide safety beyond the vehicle and will help protect Mazda customers and passengers when they are most vulnerable. Mazda believes that the new real-time digital alerts help complete their safety philosophy by addressing what happens during an emergency event outside the vehicle, an aspect often overlooked.

How It Works
Should a Mazda owner request assistance through the My Mazda app or a toll-free phone call, an AAA-affiliated service provider is sent to provide support and assistance. At the same time, through the HAAS Alerts partnership, drivers will receive “Slow Down, Move Over” alerts via their Safety Cloud-connected vehicles or mobile navigation apps.
Jennifer Morrison, Director of Vehicle Safety Strategy at Mazda North American Operations, says that safety doesn’t end when the accident is over or when the car stops on the side of the road. She says that some of the most dangerous moments happen after the initial incident, when drivers are on the side of the road with a disabled car. This is why this new partnership with AAA and HAAS Alerts is essential: to protect not just Mazda customers, but everyone else on the road.
