Google Pixel phones are having a bit of a battery issues following the March 2026 update that was pushed out at the end of last month, and it’s starting to get to users experiencing the worst of this bug, which doesn’t yet have a fix. Pixel phones getting new bugs is nothing new itself and seems to happen often than one might expect. The latest is a battery bug that causes the battery on Pixel phones to drain significantly faster than it should.
According to reports, this isn’t happening to all users, but enough users are complaining about it that it seems like a widespread issue impacting a larger number of users. Pixel phones are already associated with shorter battery life compared to other flagships, even though they have gotten better over the past few models. So, it’s easy to understand how an issue like a battery drain bug could be a big problem.
The Pixel battery bug doesn’t appear to have a fix yet
Google reportedly hasn’t acknowledged the bug or a fix on the way for it in the issue tracker where this bug was originally reported. That could mean that users are going to be waiting a while before battery drain resumes a normal length of time. Users complaining about the bug on both Google’s official Pixel Phone Help forums and on Reddit say the bug is happening across several devices. This includes the Pixel 10 series, the Pixel 9 series, and even the Pixel 7.
One user notes that their battery life used to last for around 16 hours. After the March update, it barely lasts 12 hours. Other users share similar sentiments, mentioning a drop in overall battery life and having to charge up two to three times a day.
It’s mentioned that a possible cause of this bug could be a GPS-related bug that is preventing the CPU from entering into the ‘Doze’ mode when it’s not in use. However, it’s still unclear if this is the issue, as Google hasn’t chimed in yet. For now, it looks like the best practice if you’re a Pixel owner facing this bug, is just to keep a charger or power bank on you.
