MyFirstEV Rebate
California residents famously enjoyed a $2,500 rebate for their first electric vehicle. The MyFirstEV program provided a hefty $3,500 discount on new or used EVs, provided that the buyer is eligible. The requirements for California’s MyFirstEV program include an MSRP cap of $50,000 and that the applicant be a first-time EV buyer. This program can grant a rebate of up to $3,500 if the buyer meets the requirements.
The thing is, not all buyers meet the requirements, especially since EVs are becoming a whole lot more common on the road now. Lexus is going to make this deal a heck of a lot easier by fielding its own program and offering a still-substantial rebate for buyers who might otherwise be ineligible for the state’s program.

MyLexusEV Rebate
Unearthed by CarsDirect, the difference between California’s and Lexus’ rebate programs is the requirements (or lack thereof). While the state-run program requires that the owner be a first-time EV buyer, among other things, Lexus’ program simply removes the restrictions, offering its rebate incentive without an MSRP cap, and it doesn’t require the buyer to be a first-time EV owner.
The way that the program is structured and the way that it is named points to the possibility that Lexus is directly targeting the car buyers who weren’t deemed worthy (eligible) for California’s rebate program. The catch is that Lexus only offers a rebate of up to $2,500 under this program; however, savvy shoppers will be able to score an even bigger discount if they play their cards right.

Lexus
Stackable
The thing about the MyLexusEV Rebate is that it can stack on top of other discounts and incentives that shoppers can get. For example, there is an existing $4,000 Lease Cash Incentive for the 2026 Lexus RZ. Doing the math, that can save customers up to $6,500 on this deal alone. The question is, what if you also meet all the requirements for California’s and Lexus’ rebate programs? Does that mean you can get up to $10,000 in savings on a car? This is a question we’d like answered.
The lack of an MSRP cap and the ability to stack this discount on top of existing offers make it quite enticing for shoppers looking to get into a Lexus EV. Just in case you’re no longer eligible for California’s program, this deal could be worth checking out. Be quick, however, because it only lasts until the end of September 2026.
