The City of Kissimmee commissioners chose Skyview Cos. and Azure Hotel International to build downtown hotels. These would be the downtown area’s first major hotels.
Azure Hotel International Inc. will build a 200-room hotel with 12,500 square feet of meeting space and a 25,000-square-foot new convention center at 201 E. Dakin St. in a $149 million project.
Skyview Cos. will build condos and a 128-room Sonesta hotel at 92 Pleasant St. on land surrounding the city-owned parking garage, with a total value of more than $31 million.
The Orlando Business Journal reports both companies favor negotiating with the city for control of the land. Kissimmee would maintain ownership of the convention center portion of the property, with Azure managing it.
Azure will target a convention center opening by the fourth quarter of 2028, with the hotel opening in the second quarter of 2029. Skyview will target completion by the end of 2026.
The area boasts over 1 million square feet of meeting space and 25,000 hotel rooms.
