The Trailhawk Is About to Return to the Cherokee Lineup
When the news that the Jeep Cherokee would be back for 2026 dropped, something was suspiciously absent. The Short Teaser Hints at Real Off-Road Hardware
The teaser may be short, but it’s packed with hints. The Cherokee Trailhawk flexes its way over rock ledges, wheels splayed out like it’s auditioning for a Jeep calendar, then rips through sand dunes and loose desert like it’s got something to prove. Clearly, Jeep’s testing more than just suspension travel here – think ground clearance, approach angles, and traction systems all getting a workout.
Even with all that camo, you can spot the Trailhawk DNA a mile away. There’s a beefier front bumper, bright red recovery hooks, chunky all-terrain tires, and blacked-out wheels. The classic seven-slot grille is still there, but the front end looks like it’s been reworked to clear bigger obstacles.
Jeep’s keeping the specs under wraps for now, but if history is any guide, expect the usual Trailhawk upgrades: tougher suspension, skid plates, hill descent control, and all the Trail Rated goodies. Judging by the video, most of those tricks are probably making a comeback.
The Cherokee looks a lot more compact than Jeep’s bigger bruisers, landing it right in the crosshairs of the Ford Bronco Sport Sasquatch, Subaru Forester Wilderness, and Toyota RAV4 Woodland. That could give Jeep a real shot at grabbing a bigger slice of the adventure-ready compact SUV crowd.

Jeep’s still playing coy about the full reveal date, but with all these teasers, it’s clear the Cherokee Trailhawk is just about ready to break cover.
The Cherokee’s got a big job to do for Jeep. After a break in production, it’s back to fill the gap between the Compass and Grand Cherokee, right in the thick of the SUV wars. The Trailhawk badge makes sure nobody forgets the Cherokee’s off-road roots, even as the electric era creeps in.
Looking down the trail, Jeep says the Cherokee family isn’t going anywhere. Another big update is already on the horizon as Jeep keeps rolling out more electrified SUVs. The next-gen Cherokee, pegged for the 2029 model year, will be the first US-built model on the STLA One platform, with production kicking off at the Belvidere plant in Illinois.
