The very first foldable smartphone is expected from Apple this year, the iPhone Fold. That may not be its name, but it’s called that until we find out what name Apple opted for. We’ve heard a lot about it thus far, thanks to rumors and leaks, and now the iPhone Fold has appeared next to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, thanks to dummy models.

These images have been shared by Sonny Dickinson via X, which gives us confidence in their accuracy. He did similar things in the past with Apple products, and he’s usually spot on.
The source claims that these are the final sizes of the three devices. So you can see how much shorter the iPhone Fold will be compared to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Two images are available in the gallery below.
When unfolded, the iPhone Fold is expected to provide a near-4:3 aspect ratio, if not exactly that aspect ratio. That will be great for consuming video content and possibly running apps side by side.
It’s a different approach than what other foldable phones offer at the moment. OPPO tried something like this with the Find N and Find N2 back in the day, but quickly reverted back to the industry standard of near 1:1 aspect ratio for the main (foldable) display.
Samsung will also announce a wide foldable
Apple seemingly decided to go a different way, and other companies are looking to follow. Samsung will announce a wider version of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, whose design we already revealed.
OPPO is rumored to do something similar with the OPPO Find N7, if that ends up being its name. The company could go with a different name for a wider foldable, which is also rumored to arrive this year. The OPPO Find N6 launched recently, so the Find N7 name doesn’t make much sense.
Some conflicting rumors regarding the iPhone Fold’s launch surfaced. One is claiming that the phone may be delayed due to engineering issues, while the other says that the phone could arrive earlier than rumors are saying.
