As many of you know, Apple announced its first foldable recently: the iPhone Duo. That phone managed to attract a lot of attention even though it’s not available yet. Well, Huawei believes that Apple’s arrival to the foldable smartphone market is actually a good thing.
Huawei has welcomed Apple’s arrival to the foldable smartphone market with the iPhone Duo
Richard Yu, a Director of Huawei Consumer Business and the Executive Director at the company, said that it’s a good thing fo business growth. He believes this will push companies ot introduce better products and services to consumers.
He sees this development as healthy competition. Yu said: “When we were about to launch this widescreen foldable phone, we saw online reports about our US peer developing a similar phone. The widescreen foldable phone was originally from Huawei, and we started earlier.”
He also mentioned that the launch of Apple’s iPhone Duo has increased the sales volume of the Pura X Max by 76%. That is the company’s wide foldable, which crossed 1 million unit sales recently.
The iPhone Duo will become available later this month
The iPhone Duo is going on sale later this month, after being introduced last month. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max launched alongside it, but the iPhone Duo was not made available straight away.
The iPhone Duo is the very first foldable from Apple. Apple decided to go with a wide foldable as its first foldable, which is interesting, though it makes sense. It does give the most utility to users.
The Huawei Pura X Max was announced back in April and released in May, so it has been on the market for quite some time now. Huawei was first to board the wide foldable train, and Richard Yu did emphasize that as well. Huawei even announced a non-folding wide phone, the Huawei X View.
