One of the chief complaints that some users have had with the iPhone Duo is reachability. Because the phone is wider than your typical iPhone, reaching across the screen is a struggle. The good news is that in iOS 27.3, Apple is bringing reachability to the iPhone Duo.
iPhone Duo to get reachability in iOS 27.3
iOS 27.3 isn’t out yet for the iPhone Duo, but its beta was recently released. One of the main changes in the update is reachability. For those unfamiliar, Apple’s iPhones had a reachability feature where you can swipe downwards near the bottom of the iPhone’s display. When you do that, the entire contents of the phone’s display shift downwards. This allows users to reach the top of the content with one hand.
Oddly enough, it wasn’t available for the iPhone Duo, at least until iOS 27.3. With the upcoming update, users only need a small swipe on the left or right edge of the display to shift the content to either side. Seeing as how the iPhone Duo seems to have been designed for right-handers in mind, maybe this feature could make it more left-handed friendly.
But that’s not all
In addition to reachability, iOS 27.3 is expected to bring about more Duo-specific updates. One of which is changes to Safari. With the update, users have the option to shift the position of tabs. As it stands, when the phone is unfolded, Safari’s UI is more like its desktop or iPad counterpart. It has a more traditional tab layout near the top of the app.
However, the update will let users shift it to the right in a vertical alignment. Once again, this should help make it more manageable and reachable. Safari is also getting an adaptive dark mode, which changes elements to make it easier on the eyes in the dark, even if the website doesn’t necessarily support it natively.
It also seems that the update will bring about the revamped Health app that was previously promised. iOS 27.3 isn’t exclusive to Apple’s foldable. It will also bring about updates and improvements to Apple’s regular iPhones too. We don’t have a release date yet, but based on the build number, it could be a while.
