So you might have bought the iPhone Air last year and for whatever reason, you might be regretting your purchase. Now, you are thinking of trading it in for the new iPhone 18 Pro series or even the iPhone Duo. Unfortunately, the trade-in value for the iPhone Air for the iPhone 18 Pro or Duo isn’t as good as you might think.
iPhone Air trade-in for iPhone Duo or 18 Pro is terrible value
According to the Apple trade-in page, it seems that the value of the iPhone Air is quite bad compared to the iPhone 17. How much will you get if you trade-in the iPhone Air for the Duo or 18 Pro? Based on Apple’s own quotation, you would get about $585, and that’s assuming it’s accepted at full trade-in value.
Some of you might think that seems somewhat fair, but is it? The base iPhone 17 gets the same trade-in value, and let’s not forget the fact that it costs $799 at launch. That’s a good $200 cheaper than the iPhone Air. This means that the value of the iPhone Air, at least by Apple’s own standards, fell by about $400, whereas the iPhone 17 fell by about $300.
It is possible that maybe Apple has less to salvage from the iPhone Air compared to the base iPhone 17. Either way, those are the prices so you might want to rethink it.
What else can you do about it?
One of the benefits of trading it in with Apple is that it’s easier and it’s official. You don’t have to worry about scammers. However, what you pay for is the convenience. However, if you’re looking to max out the value of your iPhone Air, you should probably seek third-party trade-in platforms. Alternatively, you could always try selling it directly on platforms like eBay or Facebook Marketplace.
It is possible you could fetch a higher price, but you’d also have to handle all inquiries and shipping or meetups yourself. But honestly, $585 for the iPhone Air seems like quite bad value.Â
