Over the years, Apple has shrunk the Dynamic Island feature on its iPhones. It’s still very much present and in some cases, can get in the way of things. But thanks to a recently leaked image of the iPhone 18 Pro, it’s almost a certainty that Apple will be shrinking the feature even further.
iPhone 18 Pro images confirms smaller Dynamic Island
As you can see in the image below, it allegedly depicts the iPhone 18 Pro and what appears to be a considerably smaller Dynamic Island. This is actually not the first time we’ve heard these rumors or seen leaked dummy units or photos. While this is by no means official confirmation, at the very least the rumors all seem to corroborate each other.

In an earlier report, it was suggested that the new Dynamic Island measures just 14.98mm wide. This is considerable shrinkage compared to the iPhone 17 Pro’s 20.06mm. However, it’s worth noting that much earlier rumors suggested that the size would not change. There were also rumors that Apple could adopt an in-display Face ID system.
Then, come 2027, Apple might finally introduce an in-display front-facing camera for the 20th anniversary iPhone. But now that an in-display Face ID did not make the cut, we’re not sure about Apple’s plans for 2027. Either way, that’s still at least a year away, so we should probably focus on Apple’s more immediate plans.
More details
Apple will launch its iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max later this year, possibly in September. It will also launch alongside the iPhone Ultra, which will be the company’s first foldable iPhone. The good news is that at least for the iPhone 18 series, Apple might not be raising its prices. This means that the new iPhones will be on par with last year’s models.
However, there might be an increase in price on the higher storage tiers. But if you’re fine with the lower-storage models, then you might not see a price hike. That might be the same for the base iPhone 18 as well, rumored for an early 2027 launch. However, Apple might go with lower specs in order to keep costs down, which in turn will help prevent them from raising prices.
