So far based on the rumors, Apple will announce three new iPhones next month. This includes the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra. But now, we have a better idea of Apple’s roadmap for the near future, where references made in iOS 27 confirms the rest of the iPhone 18 lineup and more.
iOS 27 confirms rest of iPhone 18 lineup
According to Macworld’s report, the latest iOS 27 beta seemingly confirms the rest of the iPhone 18 lineup among other devices. This is because the beta has battery driver related files which mentions other iPhone models. This includes V62, V63, V64, V67, V68, and V69.
V63 and V64 refer to the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, while V68 refers to the iPhone Ultra. This leaves V62, which is expected to be the iPhone Air 2; V67 which is expected to be the base iPhone 18; and V69 which refers to the iPhone 18e. Now, these devices aren’t new per se. We’ve been hearing about them for a while.
However, the references made in iOS 27 beta more or less confirms they exist and what Apple’s plans are. Note that none of these model numbers confirms the specs or features of the phones, so right now we only have their names.
Apple’s 2027 lineup
That being said, this is part of Apple’s revised strategy. In the past, Apple would usually announce its entire iPhone lineup at once. However, this year the company is going with a split launch. It will announce its higher-end models in September as per usual. However, the rest of the lineup will be pushed to early 2027.
This means if you’re waiting for the cheaper base iPhone 18 model, you’ll have to wait until next year. It’s also interesting that the beta references the iPhone Air 2. We heard Apple plans to debut a second-gen model. However, the poor sales of the first model did lead to rumors and speculation that Apple could drop the model entirely.
We’ve also been hearing rumors about the iPhone 18e, Apple’s more “budget-friendly” model. The latest rumors suggest the company could bump the RAM from 8GB to 9GB. This could help Apple Intelligence run better on the phone. Either way, these three models are only expected in 2027, so there’s still a long way to go.
