Instagram’s latest update adds new features to its school partnership program. It gives partner schools more ways to communicate with parents and students. Schools can now post stories and notes that are visible only to verified students. The update also adds tools for school channels, clubs, teams, and student directories.
Instagram’s latest update rolls out new features for partner schools
Instagram launched the School Partnership Program last year. Meta said the initiative gives schools more support in dealing with cyberbullying. Under the program, reports submitted by students and staff at partner schools that may breach Instagram’s Community Standards are given priority for review. Schools also get a status update directly in their emails. They also receive a notification whenever Instagram takes action against submitted reports.
Now, the tech giant is rolling out a new update to the program. The update adds several new features aimed at school communities outside regular classroom activities. Schools can now send information directly to the students and parents using the Channels function. Moreover, school staff and students will be able to post stories and notes, which are visible only to verified students at their institution. Admins can now remove irrelevant posts and media.
School admins can now create Clubs and Teams
One of the biggest additions in the latest update is the ability to create Clubs and Teams inside the social media program. Students and staff can create Clubs and Teams. It can be used as a central place to share information about activities, events, and other school-related matters.
Further, Instagram is adding a student directory that lets students find other students from their school on the platform. The directory is visible only to other students and to teen followers they follow back. Lastly, Meta has said the new features are intended to be used outside school hours.
