Insta360 Luna Ultra
– $769
Take your content creation to the next level with Insta360’s new Luna Ultra standalone camera gimbal.
Insta360 has finally announced the Luna Ultra, its competitor to DJI’s popular Osmo Pocket line of cameras. As someone who has been using the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 for the past couple of years, this has my attention and could get me to switch over. Especially given DJI’s current issues with the US government.
With the Luna Ultra, Insta360 is using a 1-inch 8K sensor with Leica Summicron lenses, and it also has a detachable OLED touchscreen, so you can easily keep yourself in the frame. This is really going to unlock a lot of potential with content creation.
The super high-resolution sensor is going to allow for great video and photo capture, even in low light. There is also a secondary telephoto lens system with a 1/1.3″ sensor and f/2.0 aperture. This is going to enable some creamy bokeh across five focal lengths, and up to 12x zoom, including 6x lossless zoom.
With the Insta360 Luna Ultra, the company is including 8k30 video recording with Dolby Vision. There’s also support for 10-bit I-Log for greater color information and flexibility in post production. The Luna Ultra does indeed have 14 stops of dynamic range.
For still photos, you can take 37MP UltraPhotos and 200MP Scenic Panorama Photos.
Of course, the Insta360 Luna Ultra does work with the company’s other products, like Mic Pro, which can step up the audio game for your content. However, the removable OLED touchscreen also has a microphone inside. So you can use that as a microphone while also making sure you’re in the shot. Two birds, one stone.
It’s available starting today, for $769
The Insta360 Luna Ultra is available starting today for $769. It is available from Amazon, Best Buy and a few other retailers, with further worldwide availability in the coming months.
Currently, there are two bundles available. The standard bundle which is $769 includes the camera of course, a protective cover, a wind guard, a 1/4″ thread handle, and a wrist strap. The Creator Bundle, which is $969, includes all of that as well as a carrying bag, battery handle, Mic Pro Transmitter, and a wide-angle lens.
