The smartwatch market is reportedly going to drop by up to 4% globally for Q2 2026, as new prediction data from an analytics firm shows a decline in units shipped from three of the six categories. Smartwatches are no longer a niche product category, with Huawei holding the lead as brand that has recorded the most amount of units shipped of any other available brand.
According to the report, the largest factor in the global decline for smartwatches is a “continued weakness in the basic smartwatch segment.” It’s also reported that users who had already owned more basic smartwatches held off on upgrades because newer models didn’t have many new monitoring capabilities compared to what they were already using. For users with premium smartwatches, upgrades were postponed as users wait for newer products to hit the market. The report doesn’t mention specific premium models, however.
