Huawei launched its book-style wide-folding phone, the Pura X Max, earlier this year. Soon, we’ll see brands like Samsung and Apple entering the same space with their offerings. While that gives consumers more options, it looks like the company wants to spice it up further. According to a new leak, Huawei is working on bringing a wide-screen form factor to a non-folding transitional slab phone with flagship-grade specs, like a 7,000mAh battery.

The phone may feature a wider, tablet-like display and will reportedly arrive after the Mate 90 series, possibly towards the end of 2026. The source of the leak is tipster Digital Chat Station, who has a reliable track record. Huawei is reportedly testing a 16:10 display with a 2K-class resolution. This will give the phone a wider screen than most conventional phones.
The tipster claims the engineering prototype is surprisingly thin and lightweight, which is good news considering its larger footprint. However, the rest of the design details are currently not clear, but we’ll probably get there in future leaks.

Digital Chat Station, however, has revealed its imaging specs. Huawei is reportedly testing a 50MP primary sensor with a large 1/1.3-inch format. This will be accompanied by a 50MP periscope telephoto lens and a multispectral sensor. Since these specs are just being tested, it’s not clear if they’ll make it to the production stage. But if they do, they certainly seem flagship-grade.
The Huawei phone could feature the next-generation Kirin 900 series chip and pack a 7,000mAh-class battery. That’s about it for the specs. But since the device is still in testing, there are chances the final specs may change before launch. We’re also not sure if it’ll expand outside of China at the moment.
