Recently, General Motors unveiled the 2027 Chevrolet Corvette with its all-new 6.7-liter LS6 V8. While the ‘Vette is a large part of the GM V8 story, there’s more to the introduction of the new powerplant than simply a fresh Corvette engine. In reality, the new unit exists as a first step toward the future. The latest iteration of the Chevy small block shows whether GM can keep an old-school, pushrod V8 powering its full-size trucks and performance cars during a time when emissions regulations and electrification squeeze the life out of the humble V8.
