Compact OLED tablets have a very niche market. However, demand for them is high among buyers who want premium displays without the feeling of bulk. Considering the same, OPPO launched the OPPO Pad Mini in China, featuring an 8.8-inch 2.5K AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. It packs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 under the hood. HONOR, another prominent brand in China, reportedly wants a bigger slice of the compact tablet market. A new leak emerging from HONOR’s homeland suggests that it is working on multiple new compact OLED tablets.
HONOR is reportedly working on multiple new compact OLED tablets
The news comes via Weibo tipster Smart Pikachu, who claims that HONOR is working on multiple new tablets under the MagicPad series. If things go as planned, HONOR might debut these tablets in different sizes, including compact ones, all featuring OLED screens in Q4.
The alleged compact OLED tablets from HONOR will reportedly also feature what the tipster mentions as “a hole-free design.” While the exact details are under wraps, it seems HONOR might come up with an under-display camera setup or something that removes visible camera cutouts from the screen.
Interestingly, the tipster’s claims don’t stop with the MagicPad series. The company is reportedly also working on a compact OLED tablet under the newer Win branding. Considering the claim, HONOR could use the same 185Hz OLED display technology in this compact tablet. To catch you up, that’s similar to what you’d find on the HONOR Win handheld. The said tablet could also support 5G connectivity.
MagicPad could target the premium segment, while Win focuses on value
HONOR’s alleged tablets, including the compact ones, will likely target different buyers. The MagicPad version is rumored to be the flagship offering, while the Win-branded model may focus on performance and affordability. All that said, HONOR has yet to officially confirm any of these plans. So, we recommend that you take these details with a grain of salt. Not to forget, a report from late last month also hinted that OnePlus is also planning to launch a premium compact OLED tablet globally.
