A leak has now surfaced that is said to showcase the design of the HMD Luma 2, a new device coming from the brand. To be fair, HMD is far from the first company to copy Apple’s hardware designs in one way or another. In fact, sometimes it feels like the smartphone market is just one big pot that people throw all their ideas into and everyone shares things from software features to hardware design.
That being said, there’s a pretty distinct difference between taken a few inspirational ideas and making what is almost a 1:1 copy of something. And for the HMD luma 2, the latter is what you’re essentially looking at. Obviously, there are some differences. If you look at the design of the device, HMD has taken some liberties. However, it’s very clear that much of the design was really just lifted from Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro.

The HMD Luma 2 design leak shows three available colors
Putting the design inspiration aside, the leak does showcase some interesting bits of information if you’re interested in HMD devices. For example, it shows off the phone in three different colors. So, it appears HMD plans to launch three different colors of the device. This includes what looks like a sort of dark navy blue, a light sky blue, and then a champagne gold color. These are likely not the actual names for each color, but it is what they’re visually close to.
It’s also worth noting that not all of the design is an iPhone copy cat. The rear cameras don’t appear the same visually. There’s also only two sensors as opposed to three. That being said, the similarities are most certainly there if you look at both side by side. In addition to the leaked design, some of the specs are also listed. The phone is said to come with a 6,000mAh battery that charges at 18W, a 50MP main camera, a 6.75-inch FHD+ display, 128GB or 256GB of storage, both with 4GB of RAM, and Android 16.
