Google has already shared glimpses of its AI roadmap during the most recent Android Show. The company will go into more depth on those announcements—and offer new ones—at the upcoming Google I/O event next week. Meanwhile, a recent leak suggests that a much more powerful tool is waiting in the wings. Known as Gemini Spark, this new Google feature appears to be a true AI agent designed to perform tasks across different apps without needing constant human oversight.
Google Gemini Spark’s features aim to automate your digital life
According to reports, Spark lives within Gemini but functions as an autonomous assistant. While current AI models mostly respond to questions, Spark focuses on execution. Leaked screenshots show an option to activate the agent within the Gemini launcher on Android (via Android Authority).
The welcome screen for Spark highlights several practical use cases. It can reportedly dive into your Gmail to clear out junk, organize notes before a big meeting, or even assemble a personalized news digest. The core idea is to handle multi-step workflows that usually require you to jump between different Google Workspace apps.
Custom skills and autonomy
Perhaps one of the most interesting things about the leak is the ability to create “skills.” This would allow users to set up recurring tasks with specific instructions, similar to how competitors like Claude handle project-based work. For example, you could teach Spark how you prefer your weekly reports formatted, and it would gather the necessary data from your Docs and Drive to generate them automatically.
Perhaps most notably, users might have the option to let Spark operate entirely on its own. Many current AI tools require a human to review every step. Meanwhile, Spark could offer a “set it and forget it” mode for routine chores.
A new browser companion?
Beyond mobile apps, Spark might also extend its reach to the desktop. Some findings suggest it could control the Chrome browser and access files stored on your PC. While it may not yet have full system-level control like some specialized rival tools, its deep integration into the Google ecosystem makes it a formidable productivity companion.
Although these details come from early previews and code digging, we won’t have to wait long for official confirmation. Google I/O 2026 is scheduled for next week, and it is highly likely that Gemini Spark will be a centerpiece of the keynote.
