Google will allow you to create your own widgets on Android; that much was announced back in May, during Google I/O 2026. Well, Google has now listed its Create My Widget app on the Play Store, giving us a better look at how things will both look and work.

If you proceed to open the listing, you’ll notice there are plenty of screenshots included, showing the app’s UI on both Android phones and newly announced Googlebook laptops. Check out those screenshots below.
The whole gist is that you’ll be able to describe what you want created, and Gemini will do the rest. You’ll be able to choose between quite a few categories, including combo widgets, weather alerts, important dates, daily brief, and so on.
Each of these categories will serve you several widget ideas as a starting point. Users will also be able to refine widgets before adding them to the home screen. So you’ll essentially be able to tune everything to your liking.
It’ll allow you to create widgets on both Pixel and Galaxy phones… at first
Back at Google I/O, the company said that the feature will first launch on Pixel and Galaxy Phones. The app is not accessible for me on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. I can find it if I open the link directly, but I still cannot install it, as it says it’s incompatible.
The release date for the app is September 24, so it should have become available already. I don’t have a Pixel phone at hand, so I can’t check that, but you can, if you own one. Do check on both Samsung and Pixel phones; the link is available below. To be quite honest I’m not sure if it’ll work for anyone at this point.
This app will roll out to other devices down the road; we’re just not sure when. Google has only mentioned Pixel and Galaxy smartphones thus far, so everyone else will have to wait.
