Google quietly finalized a major design overhaul for Google Wallet on Android. If you use your phone to store flight tickets, loyalty cards, or credit cards, the app you open today is going to feel completely different. Alongside the fresh interface, Google also dropped a brilliant update for Google Pay that finally fixes one of the most annoying parts of shopping on a desktop computer.
Google Wallet’s redesign brings a cleaner dashboard and live updates
The first thing you will notice is a much cleaner homepage. Google restructured the layout to give you quick access to your favorite cards right at the top. For things like boarding passes and event tickets, the app now uses a full-screen design. This way, you can see all your important details without squinting.
There is also a new “View more” floating button that acts as a giant, searchable search engine for your wallet. If you are looking for an old receipt or a specific transaction from weeks ago, you can find it there in seconds. Even better, Google integrated live updates directly into the app. If your flight gets delayed or your concert gate changes at the last minute, your ticket will update itself and send an urgent alert straight to your screen.

Say goodbye to annoying SMS verification codes
The biggest win for security and convenience is a feature called Cross-device Payment Verification. We have all been there: You are buying something on your laptop, and suddenly the checkout flow stops because you have to wait for a one-time text message password or get redirected to a clunky bank page. It is slow, and it completely ruins the shopping experience.
Google Pay is fixing this by turning your Android phone into a secure security key. Now, when you buy something on your desktop, a secure push notification will pop up on your phone. Alternatively, you can simply scan a quick QR code on your computer screen. From there, you just unlock your phone using your fingerprint, face unlock, or PIN to approve the purchase. The approach is fast, secure, and meets all the strict checkout regulations in regions like the UK and Europe.

Receipts and digital IDs get smarter
Behind the scenes, Google is also making the app work harder for you after you buy something. Developers can now let stores drop digital receipts directly into your Google Wallet the second you pay. You will no longer have to dig through a messy email inbox just to prove you bought something. Plus, if you tap your phone at a store but forget to use your rewards account, a quick notification will ask if you want to join their loyalty program with a single click.

Finally, Google is expanding digital IDs. They are partnering with companies like Uber and TurboTax to let users securely share specific parts of their digital driver’s licenses or IDs only when a service absolutely needs to verify who they are.
This big redesign and new features for Google Wallet are rolling out widely to all Android devices via update.
