Google is always rolling out features, sometimes to improve things and other times to fix what’s broken. Well, now Google TV is rolling out a fullscreen feature roundup that highlights new features and updates that have rolled out in recent months. But strangely enough, some of them have been available for months.
Google TV’s new features roundup includes several familiar additions
So the next time you turn on your Google TV, you will be welcomed with the October 2026 roundup of new features. It’s worth noting that this isn’t entirely new. The company has been pushing out these occasional fullscreen summaries for a while. The latest one is showing up on Google TV Streamer and other devices this week.
The new features highlighted by Google for this month include New Freeplay channels and on-demand content, Watchlist relocation & tweaks, Google Photos search, Gemini-aided “Remix your photos,” and Dynamic slideshows. These have rolled out over the past few months.

These have been around for a while now
Google TV added new Freeplay channels recently, bringing the total to over 300 built-in channels. In August, it expanded its free on-demand movies and shows. The company introduced dynamic slideshows in April and added photo search way back in January. The new Watchlist location change arrived as part of the home screen redesign back in November last year.
The timing of this new feature roundup comes with a question mark. There’s no explanation from Google as to why it’s highlighting these features as “new” when most of them have been available for a while. It has shared similar roundups a few times a year for Google TV Streamer and other devices. But this time, the list covers features launched over a much longer period. Either way, in case you weren’t aware of what features the platform offers, you now have a list.
