Just a week after Google decided to raise the price of YouTube Premium, it has now decided to give it to you for half off. Yes really.
Google announced late on Wednesday that if you are subscribed to the Google One 2TB plan or higher, you can get YouTube Premium for 50% off for the next 12 months.
Google does say that this works for new and existing Google One subscribers, but if you are already a YouTube Premium subscriber, you won’t be eligible. This is also limited to the US, Canada, Japan, Brazil, France, and Germany. The offer ends on April 29, 2026.
To claim your 50% discount on YouTube Premium, head to the Google One website.
If you’re already paying for Google One, or have the Google One 2TB plan, then this is really not a bad deal at all. This brings YouTube Premium down to $7.99 per month, or the bundle to $17.98/month. Which is a pretty good value, considering Apple charges $20/month for 2TB of storage.
What do you get with YouTube Premium?
I’ve said many times before that YouTube Premium is the one subscription that I’ll never get rid of, no matter how often they raise prices. It’s the most used streaming app that I have, and I love not having to watch ads, being able to download videos to play offline, and more.
If you watch YouTube a ton, then getting Premium is definitely a worthwhile investment. And while yes, there are plenty of ways to block ads and watch YouTube without paying a dime, those ways don’t help the creators who’s videos you’re watching. YouTube Premium directly goes to helping those creators, as they do get paid for YouTube Premium views.
If you don’t want to keep YouTube Premium after the 12 months, you can always cancel it, or switch to YouTube Lite, which is around the same price.
